The primary aim is to evaluate whether 12 weeks of improvisational music therapy sessions will be effective for improving social communication, wellbeing, and reducing anxiety. This is a multi-site study conducted at UK mainstream and special educational needs schools. It is an assessor-blind, pragmatic, randomised controlled trial and is recruiting 240 children aged 7-11 years with a clinical diagnosis of autism.
